EVC Area Leadership Training & Development Programs

  • UExplore - One-year staff enrichment program designed for early-career and entry-level Academic Affairs employees. The mission of UExplore is to assist participants in identifying realistic and appropriate professional development goals, providing them with the tools to make educated decisions regarding their careers.  Learn More.  Program begins Feburary 2018.  Online application opens December 4, 2017
  • Leadership Academy for Functional Managers - One-year program to help new/existing functional managers understand their leadership role and enhance their ability to work effectively with other functional managers and the MSO for the optimal functioning of the department/unit. This program is currently undergoing program revisions and enhancements. Stay tuned to learn when this program will occur again.
  • STRIVE Leadership Program - Four-year leadership and mentorship program. Curriculum includes: monthly and annual workshops, courses, certifications, and an individualized professional development plan of electives.

Opportunities for Funding

  • Educational Benefits - Reduced-fee enrollment or discounts on courses for eligible UCSD Employees.
  • Functional Training Opportunity (FTO) - This new program reimburses 50% of wages to departments that hire an FTO student. Students can work up to 20 hours per week, earnings cannot exceed $10,000 per year, and FTO utilization is a maximum of 2 years.         
  • Promotion Project Training Funds - Up to $1,000 in training funds may be available for departments that hire an employee in the Administrative Specialists thru Senior Administrative Analyst series.
  • Scholarship Opportunity: LSS Green Belt at UCSD Extension - This certification includes both classroom training as well as hands-on practicum. Students will attend full days of in-class training, one day per week over a 6 week period at UCSD Extension. Find course details. In addition to the classroom training, each candidate will complete a process improvement project at work that would result in significant impact.
  • Staff Association Scholarship Program - Scholarship Opportunity up to $350 for eligible UCSD staff.
